Hi, I’m Eddie Martinez!

My work is inspired by the colorful world around me, influenced by my Mexican-American heritage and lifelong love of nature. I express this in various ways, specializing in acrylics, pen, and alcohol-based markers. No matter the medium, my world is full of vibrant colors (which I sometimes let my wife help choose)!

Beyond the canvas, I’ve illustrated two children’s books — Addy Wants to Fit In and Addy and the Anteater, both written by Jacky Lamenzo. I’m passionate about public art and love biking to check out local murals (follow me on Instagram to see some of my favorites!). I’ve had the honor of creating several murals, as well as a public art installation in the Temple Art Train Project. You can also catch me discussing the art of illustration in Lemon House Publishing's Self-Paced course.

I was born in Sabinas Hidalgo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, and raised in Eagle Pass, Texas. I graduated from St. Edwards with a degree in bilingual education and was a teacher for 11 years, guiding elementary school children on their own artistic journeys.

I live in Austin, Texas with my wife Hayley and our five furry children — our cats, Omar, Mindy, and Tina, and our two dogs, Bonnie and Memo. When I’m not painting or drawing, you can catch me exploring the city on my bike.
